Full Spectrum hemp extract and CBD isolate are two common forms of “CBD oil“. It is important to know the differences before deciding which one to take.
“Full Spectrum”, or “whole-plant” hemp extract keeps all the properties of the hemp plant intact. In addition to CBD, this extract includes terpenes, other cannabinoids, vitamins, essential fatty acids, and any other materials that are extracted from the hemp plant. Keeping all of the plant components together creates a synergistic positive effect. Scientists have found that these plant components interact with one another to create what is called “The Entourage Effect“. According to this theory, cannabinoids such as CBD and other components of hemp work together to improve absorption and efficacy in the body.

Procana’s Hemp Spectrum+ droppers and softgels offer 50 mg of full-spectrum extract per serving, whereas Procana’s NEW Hemp Excel+ droppers and softgels contain 100 mg.
CBD isolate is exactly what it sounds like—isolated CBD. By isolating the single-molecule, we are able to provide stronger potency of pure CBD. Procana’s CBD isolate products are 100% natural and pesticide-free, not synthetic, and derived by Supercritical CO2 extraction. Procana is able to refine the extraction by extensive filtering to ensure its purity and strength.
Procana provides a wide range of strengths for pure, isolated CBD supplements; Balance droppers and softgels offer 8 mg per serving, Complete droppers, softgels offer 20 mg per serving, and Ultra droppers and softgels offer 50 mg per serving.
Now that you know the differences between full-spectrum and isolate CBD, you are probably wondering which one would work best for you. The only way to tell is by trying both and journaling the effects. While CBD isolate is pure and potent, full-spectrum is the most natural, as it does not undergo the same amount of processing. Another thing to consider when making the decision is the fact that full-spectrum has the advantage of the Entourage Effect. Be aware that full-spectrum hemp extract may include under 0.3% of THC; these trace amounts of THC most likely will not show up on a drug test, and Procana’s Full Spectrum supplements are testing at under 0.007%, which is way below the threshold of what is allowed by federal law.
There is not one that is better than the other; everybody acts differently. While some people benefit better from CBD isolate, others find more relief with full-spectrum supplements. Please read the testimonials under each of our products; this will give you an idea of what our customers use them for. Remember to start with a low dose and work your way up if needed. Make sure to journal the effects for at least 2 weeks to really determine what works best for you!
